Wiltshire County U11 Quad Kids Championships
Thirty Four athletes representing ten Clubs from the Wiltshire and Bath area lined up to take part in the recent Wiltshire County U11 Quad Kids Championships held at the County Athletics Track in Swindon.
Quad Kids incorporates the disciplines of 75m, 600m, long jump and vortex throw with the aim of encompassing all the key aspects of athletics; speed, endurance, agility and strength in one competition.
Edward Low and Jonty Nicholas (both Year 5) who train with MAD JA (Marlborough & District Junior Athletics) took up the challenge from the off with Edward taking first place in the long jump with Jonty second. The positions were then reversed in the 75m sprint where Jonty won in a time of 11.8s and Edward took second place. Edward then threw 31m to win the vortex meanwhile Jonty was fourth and in the 600m Jonty ran a great race to take first place in 1 minute 56 seconds with Edward fourth.
Astonishingly, despite a very complicated scoring system, both boys ended up with 223 points overall to become joint Gold medal winners and Wiltshire U11 Quad Kids Champions. Well done to them both for their consistent high achievements across all the disciplines.
Best friends and joint Champions…what a perfect ending!
