Success at Junior and Senior Wessex Athletics
St Francis has had its most successful Junior and Senior Wessex Athletics events ever!
The Junior and Senior events took place recently at Walhampton School and The Bournemouth Athletics Centre respectively.
Our talented athletes performed brilliantly, their hard work and preparation with the early focus on athletics at the beginning of the term paid off.
During both events nine school records were broken and Seona in Year 3, achieved a Junior Wessex record in the 200m, whilst Florence, Year 4 was also named as the best U10 Girl Athlete for the day events.
Freddie Webb (100m), Amber Dickin (100m & 200m) and Hamish Macmillan (100m Hurdles) excelled at Senior Wessex by winning their events, and they will therefore represent the Wessex Region at the IAPS National Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Tuesday 4 July.
Congratulations to all the athletes who took part and to those who were close to gaining a medal – there were many of them. We are proud of their performances and the manner in which they conducted themselves throughout both the events. Well done!
