Success at the Devizes Eisteddfod
Once again this year, pupils from St Francis School had an opportunity to display their artistic talents in the Devizes Eisteddfod. Pupils from St Francis made a total of 99 individual or paired performances across the two days with many entering the pre-adjudicated classes in composition and artwork. Both the Travancore and Haybrook choirs also took part in the competition.
Fourteen pupils, who were judged to be Class Winners, received medals in their respective age groups/grade levels.
In total, including the results for the drama classes, fifteen St Francis pupils were awarded a Distinction and three were judged to be the exceptional level of Outstanding.
The Choral Speaking Club were winners in their Choral Speaking class, being awarded the Shelagh Richards Cup.
The Mills Cup was won by a Year 3 pupil, whose 3D artwork was judged to be the best of all the artistic entries from the ages of under 5 to 11.
Many members of the Travancore Choir return to Devizes last Saturday afternoon to provide the finale to a very enjoyable Festival Concert.
Congratulations and thanks to all the pupils for their performances and successes, to the teachers for their preparation of the pupils, and to parents for spending their days in Devizes ensuing that our pupils were present at all their various venues and classes.
