St Francis success at The Devizes Junior Eisteddfod

The streets of Devizes were  painted red on Friday and Saturday last week as St Francis pupils were competing in the music and drama classes at the Devizes Junior Eisteddfod.
Not only did our senior choir compete – and win the ‘Choir 14 & Under’ class – but all of our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils had the opportunity to compete as the Haybrook Choir in the ‘Choir 11 & Under’ class against other schools whose choirs were much older. Well done to the seniors for their victory and to Haybrook for their participation.
There were well over 80 performances by St Francis pupils in the music and drama classes and all of Years 5 and 6 competed in the ‘Choral Speaking 11 & Under’ class with dramatic performances. Over 20 pupils had competed in the pre-judged events for composition, literary, handwriting and art.

Many congratulations to everyone who participated, especially to those individuals who were judged winners of their classes: Joseph, Year 8 won the ’13 & Under’ Literary Section; Iona, Year 4 won the ‘8 & Under’ Handwriting Section; and Eloise, Year 6 won the ‘11 & Under’ Artwork section.
