St Francis Reading Aloud Competition 2014

On a breezy November evening, the finalists of the St Francis School Reading Aloud Competition gathered together in Haybrook Dining Hall to perform their prose and poems.

The audience of parents, teachers and siblings was treated to some highly entertaining material, from David Walliams to John Betjeman, from Anna Sewell to Dr Seuss and from Sophie McKenzie to Roald Dahl. The judges, Headmaster,  David Sibson and Mrs Caron Hunter from Dauntsey’s, had difficult decisions to make.

Mrs Hunter said that she thought the overall standard of the finalists was even higher than last year and she made helpful and positive remarks about each child’s reading.

Our thanks go to the judges, the parents and staff who supported our finalists, all the members of the English Department who helped the children to practise their reading and, most of all, all the children who took part and worked so hard.

Congratulations to our winners who are pictured below!
