It’s BOOKWEEK; Share a Story!

This year, our theme for World Book Day is ‘Share a Story’. At St Francis, we want to spread the message that sharing a story with children for just 10 minutes every day can make a crucial difference in helping to create readers for life. So this week, we have lots of fun and exciting events planned, to celebrate the importance of reading for pleasure.

We started our celebrations with a whole school assembly on Tuesday, and during the day, we held Drop Everything & Read sessions; we ALL stopped whatever we were doing and read for 5 minutes!

Today is Guess the Book Day; children brought in clues relating to their favourite book to share with their classmates, along with the book itself. There were some intriguing clues and it was a great way to share our love of reading!

For WORLD BOOK DAY on Thursday. The whole school are getting together for a day of collaborative activities, based around a picture book, to be revealed on the day! Watch this space for the big reveal!

On Friday in the afternoon by Haybrook (Pre-Prep)  children are visiting Travancore (Junior & Senior Prep), when older children can share stories that they enjoyed when they were younger. Children can bring in books from home to share with each other. After school we are also having a Book Swap stall in Travancore Courtyard – bring a book and swap it for something you haven’t read!
