Individual Music Festival Final
The Individual Music Festival final was held in the Haybrook Hall on Monday 16 March. Many pupils had already achieved excellent performances in the Preliminary Rounds and had practised hard in order to gain their place in the final competition.
The evening consisted of six different classes, from beginners to pupils who are approximately Grade 4 standard and above on their instruments. The variety of instruments, including a Viola, Piano Accordion and a French Horn; in addition to the range of performances from blues to classical culminated in a wonderful evening of music.
Mr Richard James, the Headmaster of St Mary’s School in Shaftesbury, had incredibly tough decisions to make when awarding the medals to each of the classes. The winners of the classes were: JoJo Kiggell, Madeleine Curry, Cecily Tebbutt, Joseph Oliver, Lottie Royle and Jenna Dickin.
Outstanding performers received a shield: our junior winner was Olivia Miller; Amelia Hicks won the Years 5 & 6 shield; and Todd Benney won the senior shield.
Everyone who competed in the Individual Music Festival this year has helped to create this celebration of musical talent at St Francis School. Well done to you all and special congratulations to all of the class and shield winners.
We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!
