Year 6 have been celebrating and learning in their RS lessons about the Hindu festival, Diwali. Year 6 pupil, Dhruv delivered a presentation to pupils in Years 6-8 about the importance of this Festival of Light to Hindu culture and he brought in some traditional Ladoo sweets made by his grandmother.
The pupils listened to traditional Diwali songs whilst making lanterns and sampling delicious food. The children enjoyed such delights as onion and vegetable bhajis, vegetable samosas, choley, nan bread, bhuna sauce, dried figs and apricots. Although celebrating slightly early (Diwali is on 30 October), the children really got into the spirit of these lessons and enjoyed learning more about Hindu culture.
