Athletics Success at Junior and Senior Wessex!

St Francis athletes have had fantastic success at the 2019 Junior and Senior Wessex Athletics Championships. 

Twenty five children from St Francis competed at Junior Wessex on Saturday 8 June. Nine medals were won, including two bronze and four silver. There were some outstanding achievements including:

Martha (Yr 3) – GOLD in U9 Long Jump, GOLD in U9 75m final, GOLD in U9 200m final and RECORD BROKEN at 33.96s

Lucy (Yr 3) – SILVER in U9 Throw

Gabriel (Yr 3) – SILVER in U9 75m

Edward (Yr 4) – SILVER in U10 800m

Jessica (Yr 4) – SILVER in U10 800m

Percy (Yr 5) – BRONZE in U11 Throw 

 

After this fantastic success, our older athletes weren’t going to be left out! Twenty one children competed and brought home six medals – four girls even made it through to the National Finals to represent Wessex in the U12 70m Hurdles, U12 Long Jump and U12 4 x 100m Relay.

Florence (Yr 6)  – GOLD in U12 70m Hurdles, SILVER in U12 girls 4 x 100m Relay and SILVER in U12 Long Jump

Anna, Evie, Florence and Mischa – through to the National Finals representing Wessex in U12 4 x 100m Relay

Billy (Yr 6) – BRONZE in U12 Long Jump

Anna (Yr 6) – BRONZE in U12 800m

Mia (Yr 6) – BRONZE in U12 Javelin
