ICT : Information and Communications Technology

Preparing pupils for their Digital Futures

At St Francis we provide our pupils with plenty of opportunities to engage with ICT to ensure that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to survive in an ever-changing digital world.

Our children develop confidence and competence using ICT in a range of situations, preparing them to participate in the rapidly changing world of technology both at home and in the community. ICT is taught as a dedicated subject with a specialist teacher, and is also used as a tool to support, enhance and extend children’s learning opportunities across the curriculum.

Investment in Equipment and Facilities

Currently the school has two dedicated ICT suites, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and teaching space, a bank of laptops for classroom use, and digital photography equipment. Our ICT Development Committee is looking at how the future needs of our pupils can be best met by planned future investment in ICT hardware and software.

Teaching Online Safety

A comprehensive and structured e-safety programme runs throughout the ICT curriculum for all year groups and is augmented and complemented in Learning for Life lessons.
