Geography is about discovering the world and its complexity. Geography deepens our understanding of the world. Geography fascinates and inspires us; it helps us to think critically, to think geographically. It helps us to answer questions such as ‘Why do things change?’ and ‘Why do environments change?’ At the ends of the earth or underneath our feet, Geography helps answer all these questions.
At St Francis School, it is our aim to develop responsible citizens who will appreciate the needs of the world in the 21st Century.
With interesting and stimulating lessons, we bring the outside world into the classroom and also provide our pupils with the opportunity to explore outside the classroom as much as possible. This enables the children to experience their environment, not only in our own fantastic school grounds, but also through adventures further afield.
Field trips are organised for every year group and recent and forthcoming trips include:
Farm visits, Avebury Stone Circle; the Jurassic coastline in Dorset; and the Honda car factory.
