75th Celebration Concert

As part of our 75th Anniversary Celebrations, many of us enjoyed a wonderful musical  in St John’s Church in Marlborough. The concert included performances by both current and former pupils, playing a wide range of music, from Jazz to Musical Theatre to Baroque and 20th Century composers. The orchestra ‘kicked off’ the show in style, performing the themes from Star Wars and Wallace and Grommit; we were delighted to have former pupils joining in with this performance. Many of our talented musicians volunteered to perform solos and duets throughout the evening and should be congratulated on their performances and the high level of musicianship they displayed. We were inspired by many former pupils, who have gone on to achieve music scholarships and awards in their senior schools. Sincere thanks to Alice and Matthew Hook, Sarah and Ollie Mattinson, Inés Casini, Alexia Aspey and Tom Cayley for their wonderful performances and support of this special occasion. Both the Junior and Senior Choirs worked tremendously hard towards this concert and their commitment and dedication shone through, as both ensembles sang beautifully, particular highlights were the performances ‘Mr Blue Sky’ and ‘Come follow the Band’

The evening was another wonderful celebratory event to mark our 75th academic year and fitting that that it took place in St John’s Church Pewsey, when St Francis was founded by Phyllis Burden in the Rectory Rooms in Pewsey, in 1941 with just four pupils.
